Formed in 1999 as the retail arm of Innogy, NPower is one of the largest utility companies in the United Kingdom with around 8500 employees. Since combining former operations from MEB, Calortex, MEB Powerline, National Power Energy Direct, Independent Energy, Yorkshire Electricity and Northern Electric and Gas, they handle nearly 7 million customer accounts.
Customers typically see little if any difference between utility suppliers apart from fluctuations in the price they pay. Internally, the companies have divergent practices and a host of bespoke systems.
All of their software developed by Xiasma to exacting standards has succeeded in handling million- and billion-dollar transactions where even the smallest error could carry massive costs.
We implemented our solutions in Borland Delphi, rewriting many commercial library routines to ensure zero tolerance of errors.
